Dawlish
Situated in South Devon, between the estuaries of the rivers Exe and Teign, Dawlish became popular as a resort in the late 18th century and has remained popular ever since.
In the centre of the town an attractive park has an abundance of flowerbeds, giant cacti, tall palms and other exotic plants, which provide a superb background for the stream that cascades over a series of waterfalls. Black swans and several species of waterfowl have made the brook their home.
Whether you plan a holiday or short break in Dawlish you'll find plenty of accommodation to choose from including holiday cottages, camping and holiday parks and friendly B and B's and Guest Houses.
There is a good selection of cafes, inns and restaurants in Dawlish, many serving the famous Devon cream teas, and for those looking for entertainment or activities there is a theatre, museum, swimming pool, boat trips and a bowling green.
Dawlish has three beaches to choose from, Boat Cove, Coryton Cove and one stretching all the way to Dawlish Warren.
The Warren is ideal for seaside fun. With a gentle slope into the sea the beach is perfect for families, and a team of lifeguards is on hand to keep an eye on safety.
Dawlish is also an ideal choice of a place to stay if you are looking for a base to discover South Devon. Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmoor, Exeter, Teignmouth, and Exmouth are all within easy driving distance from Dawlish.
